Bobby Julga Technical Director and Scene Designer
More About Me
As an entertainment artist and technician, I’m always on the lookout for the next opportunity to collaborate with others and create fresh, visionary creations.
Hello, my name is Bobby Julga. I was born and raised in Milwaukee WI, but have been living in the St. Louis area and traveling for work in the summer months for the last few years. I graduated from Webster University's Sargent Conservatory program with a BFA in Technical Direction with an emphasis in Scene Design. I find the theater community to be welcoming and encouraging of new ideas and people in the industry. As I continue to work in the industry, I hope to be someone who can encourage the next future artists and technicians. The theater industry also offers many opportunities to experiment and create unique and interactive pieces of art. I have had the opportunity to work on many projects, such as a 30 ft. tall curved walls, a 14 ft. tall Bird Cage, a custom fabricated curved stair case on casters, and more. One day I hope to design and fabricate the next big Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas, more complicated than KÀ, and more unique than O. I value the quality of work and making the work fun. I want to captivate the audience and my fellow technicians. I enjoy working with my fellow colleges on a wide variety of projects and have a drive to lead and fulfill the project to it's highest potential.
I am excited to see what the future has to offer.

I work as a fabricator creating different decor for specialized or themed parties, events, etc. I welded frames for and built the large pink C I T Y which are stationed outside for the city soccer team's tailgate events. I also work with maintaining the large stock of different flats, different shaped platforms, and foam sculptures.

I enjoyed my summers in Cedar City, Utah as a carpenter for the Festival. I loved the large-scale sets and the interesting, unique designs I helped create. I and my fellow carpenters were met with fun and challenging projects to resolve such as the 25 ft. curved walls for The Sound of Music, to a massive box set on a cart for Trouble in Mind. The highlight of the Festival was welding and rigging a 4,200 lb steel wall with turning panels for Clue. As well as working on A Midsummer Night's Dream's glowing fabric set pieces which were held in the outdoor space and Romeo and Juliet's 3 tiered staircases designed to be in repratory.

The Rep has a seasoned working relationship with Webster's Conservatory. In my second and third years, I had the privilege of being a props carpenter and props artisan. I've worked on numerous shows, revamping vintage furniture and creating new pieces. I've worked with so many interesting folks that have helped me learn about the world of props.
This was my first experience in the professional world of theater. I worked deck crew for the outdoor season of 2021. I learned how to set up and maintain the operations of an outdoor 1,600 sq ft. mobile theater. I'm very grateful to have been doing what I love, relative to COVID-19. It reinvigorated my hope, persistence, and passion for the theater.
